FontanaArte – stylish design lights, furniture and vases made of glass
FontanaArte was established in 1932 by the architect Gio Ponti as the art department of the then leading manufacturer and designer of glass. FontanaArte at first distinguished itself via glass painting, which still can be seen in churches like Cathedral of Milan or the Cathedral of Brasilia. The visionary Ponti early recognized the architectural possibilities of glass in respect of interior design. So he started devising furniture and designer lights and put the emphasis on glass as a dominant style. Fontana Arte could achieve strong growth through the cooperation with Pietro Chiesa. Since it tried to orient itself towards large quantities of mass production, the company temporarily faced difficult times. Afterwards, in 1979, private investors, among them Carlo Guglielmi, now President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, bought Fontana Arte. They pursued a new strategy, which put again glass as a style-setting element of contemporary architecture into the focus. Today, FontanaArte belongs to one of the most important manufacturers of design lights in the world. Permanent parts of the range of product are interior
and exterior lights
. For a perfect illumination of your living area
you can choose from a variety of stylish table lamps, wall lights, ceiling lights, and floor lamps.
To furnish the outdoor area, FontanaArte presents aesthetic and lovingly conceived items you may apply in buildings, paths, green areas or other open spaces. In the furniture sector, the company is represented with elegant tables, shelves, and wardrobes made of glass. FontanaArte’s product range also includes decorative vases. A very special and an ever new challenge in terms of design is the development of lighting concepts for airports, museums and hotels. In detailed consultation with the customer, FontanaArte develops completely individual concepts for the perfect illumination of larger objects. Among them are the airport of Bilbao and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. FontanaArte is a registered stock corporation and is headquartered in Corsico in the Lombardy. Moreover, the company is a member of many trade associations in fields of design, furniture and lighting. The entire process chain – from the conceptual development to production to marketing – is certified according to ISO9001:2000. For FontanaArte, the beauty of an object is something very perceptible, but cannot be viewed in isolation from its functionality. Therefore, FontanaArte has tried for more than 75 years to harmonize technology and elegance. The design lights are remarkable for their ageless optics and outstanding lighting quality. The trend-setting lighting objects are particularly long-living – and often collector’s items. FontanaArte has received several awards such as the Compaso d’Oro for extraordinary works of design. Even renowned museums have taken FontanaArte into their famous collections. To present its customers ageless and artistically perfect compositions, FontanaArte works together with designer from all over the world – like Livio Castiglioni, David Chipperfield, Max Ingrand, Marco Merengi and Paolo Zani.
